One Hundred and One Dalmatians, often abbreviated as 101 Dalmatians, is a 1961 American animated adventure film produced by Walt Disney. The film is an adaptation of Dodie Smith's 1956's novel of the same name. It is the 17th feature film in the Walt Disney Animated Classics series, and was distributed by Buena Vista Distribution. The film was released on January 25, 1961.
The film was followed by a 1996 remake, which in turn was followed by a 2000 sequel. A cartoon series, titled 101 Dalmatians: The Series, was launched following the movies. An official direct-to-video sequel was made in 2003, titled 101 Dalmatians II: Patch's London Adventure. A live-action spin-off focusing on Cruella de Vil is in development.
